- Phyllis Elaine Anderson passed away after a lengthy illness on June 12, 2017.
She was born on March 4, 1934, in Caribou, Maine, to Florence and William Forbes. Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband Norman, siblings Donald, William, and twin brother Phillip Forbes. She is survived by sisters Janet Erickson and Gloria Flannery, sons Dan (wife Alison) and Jonathan (wife Lou), grandchildren Elijah, Adam, Kyle, Billy, Michael, Shannon and Kim, and great-grandchildren Olin, Naysen, Caden, Vincent, Theron, Anthony and Shatarah, and many nieces and nephews. She also shared a special lifelong bond with niece Heidi Haldeman.
Phyllis worked for many years at a local Shop & Save in Caribou until retiring. She loved to fish, play cards and bingo, watch the Red Sox, drink a good cup of coffee, and travel to Alaska where she spent many summers over the last twenty years with her sons Dan and Jon and their families.
Phyllis graduated from the Caribou School system. She was always happy to see and visit with her classmates, always enjoying her class reunions. On March 13, 1953, Phyllis married the love of her life, Norman Anderson. They were inseparable right up until his passing in 1995. Following Norman's death, Phyllis announced to her family in 1996 that she was tired of the cold and was moving to Florida. Enlisting the help of her son Jon, they packed up her belongings and made the journey south to her new home and a new beginning. She made lots of friends and memories in Florida and remained there for the rest of her life.
Phyllis thought the world of her family, always having a good word to say about everyone, and never forgetting birthdays and special occasions. She will always be remembered for her kindness and good spirit.
According to her wishes Phyllis will be laid to rest with Norman on July 3rd, 2017, at 2 p.m. in New Sweden with a graveside service. All who knew her are welcome to attend, with a gathering at the Gustaf Adolph Church following. A special thanks to her dear friend Bonnie who was always there for her, and a big thank you to her caregivers at Debary Health and Rehab where she spent her last year. The care and kindness she received there were outstanding.
