Philmore L. Stanwood, Jr., 77, of Steuben, passed away on July 26, 2016, in his home with his loved ones beside him. He was born on July 30, 1938, the eldest son of Philmore 'Prunie' and Beatrice Stanwood.

In addition to his mother and father, he was predeceased by 'the love of his life', Sarah; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Ralph Curtis; sister-in-law, Cindy Stanwood; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Charlie Faulkingham; and sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Thurston Pinkham. Junior is survived by a son and his wife, Brian and Terri Stanwood of Steuben; a daughter and her husband, Michele and Brett Leighton of Eastport; a daughter and her husband, Melanie and Mike Cummings of Eastport; and a daughter, Bobbi Jo Stanwood and her partner, Steven Mirasda, both of Lake George, NY. He is also survived by a brother, Arthur; a sister, Theresa; a brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Sandy; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Joanie, all of Steuben; and a sister, Shirley of Milbridge. He was also blessed with grandchildren, Danielle, James, B.J., Jessie, Hollie-Anne, Nicole, Brandon, William, and Christian; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Natalie, Lydia, Braylee, and Colton.

Junior was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He worked many different jobs to provide for his family. He was known to be a 'pretty good' clammer and wormer in his day. He loved the woods; hunting, trapping, fishing, cutting wood, and brushing in the late fall to make Christmas wreaths. He had a kind and gentle spirit. Although he didn't have much to give, anyone coming in for a visit rarely left empty handed.

The family wants to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the nurses and volunteers from DownEast Hospice. Thanks for your professional and sympathetic care of our Dad. We're also grateful for Joannna and Sandy for their TLC, Dad loved you both dearly; and Norman, Marshal and all other friends and family who came in for visits, you made it possible for Dad to stay at home in his last days.

Abiding by his wishes, a private graveside gathering and celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
