PATTEN - Philip Thomas "Tom" Baker, 70, passed away Monday, March 23rd, 2015 at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Augusta on December 11th, 1944, the son of Lawrence Baker and Ruth Doten and raised by his Mom, Annette Baker.
Tom was a 1962 graduate of Cony High School. He served the city of Augusta as a Police Officer for 9 ½ years, as well as a Sargent for 3 ½ years. He opened the T&M Teen Center on Cony Circle in Augusta because he wanted to have a safe place for Augusta's youth to hangout. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching T.V., fishing and his dog, George.
His brother, Lawrence Baker Jr., and his sister, Gerine Theriault, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his three daughters and their families, Sue and husband Joe Christianson from T6-R8, ME, Jennifer and husband Richard Brackett Sr. from Glenburn, ME, and Ruth and husband Craig from Chesapeake, VA; his eight grandchildren, Hanna and husband Ray Withee, Allen and wife Brandi Christianson, Brandie and husband Matt Morse, Katie and husband Sasha Gowell, Richard Brackett Jr., Evan Brackett, Bryon Reynolds and Taylor Reynolds; and his eight great grandchildren, Abigail Brackett, Mackenzie Brackett, Alexis Lane, Myah Brackett, Karaley Christianson, Kaitlyn Gowell, Bradley Christianson and Gracelyn Gowell. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Dennis Finnemore, Donna Finnemore, Pam Baker, Steve Baker and Rick Baker, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Mt. Heights of Patten and the staff of Eastern Maine Medical Center of Bangor for their wonderful and compassionate care.
All services will be held at Knowlton & Hewin's Funeral Home, located at One Church Street in Augusta. Calling hours will be on Monday, March 30th, 2015 from 5:00-7:00pm. A celebration of Tom's life will be on Tuesday, March 31st, 2015 at 11:00am. Burial will be later in the spring.
