- On July 8th, 2017 we lost our beloved matriarch. Penny was born July 30th, 1920 in Fredericton, NB, Canada, to James Boone Adams and Alice Genevieve Boyle Adams. She was named Millicent Aldean Adams. She used the "cent" in Millicent to be Penny.
She was in the class of 1939 at Bangor High School. She married a handsome boy from Brewer, the love of her life, on November 6th, 1939, Marshall Emery (Bunk) Folsom. They had two daughters, Sharon Millicent Folsom Jellison of Brewer and Darlene Roberta Folsom Field and her husband John of Cumberland; four granddaughters, Marcie Oechslie of Portland, Stacey Jellison-Burgoyne and her husband Kevin of Cumberland, Terri Sweet Clements and her husband Steve of West Gardiner, and Wendi Sweet McPike and her husband Aaron of Kennebunkport; eight great-grandchildren Kate Oechslie Sweetser and her husband Frank of Worcester, Mass, Maggie Oechslie Poisson of Portland, Richard Ross Burgoyne of Cumberland, Samuel Emery Burgoyne, a student at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC, Nickolas Clements of Salem, Maine, Marshall Clements of West Gardiner, Joshua McPike of Kennebunk and Emily McPike of Kennebunkport; four great-great grandchildren, Genevieve, Anya, and Eisley Sweetser, of Worcester, Mass, and AJ Poisson of Portland, also, the extended Jellison and Field families.
Marmie was a unique woman! She was not the cookie-baking, weed-pulling, go to bed early lady! She was very fashionable with an eye for detail and retired with more than thirty years in women's apparel! She loved a good time, a good drink, and family get-togethers! She was a woman of habit and routine. Her routine! She may have been elderly by the ninety-six years she lived but she was never old.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, two sisters, Noreen Adams Gormely and Joyce Adams Adams, two brothers James (Jimmy) Adams and Walter (Bud) Adams, and two nephews, William Adams Gormely, and James (Jimmy) Adams the third and her son-in-law, Richard (Dick) Jellison.
A heartfelt thank you to Marcie and Stacey for always being at her beck and call and for staying with her until the end and also to the caring staff at Portland Center for Assisted Living and Compassus Hospice and Pallative Care. There will be a memorial service on her birthday, July 30th, 12 noon at Woodlawn Cemetery, North Main Street, Brewer, followed by a gathering and lunch at her niece's home, Barbara Lawson, 152 Eastern Avenue, Brewer. Arrangements by Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, Portland.
