Patricia's Story

BANGOR - Patricia "Pat" V. McMullen, 91, died after a long illness on May 11, 2015 at her home in the loving care of her family. Pat was born February 7, 1924 in London, England the daughter of Albert and Lillian (Jenman) Biddiss. Pat served in the British Women's Land Army during WWII (1942-1945) where she met and married her husband Malcolm "Mac" during his service in the U.S. Army. As a WWII war bride Pat left her homeland (1945) to start her life as a wife, mother and, soon after, a U.S. Citizen in Lincoln, Maine where she resided for 40 plus years. As a widow (1985) Pat relocated to Bangor in 1987 where she established a long time residence and many friendships at 183 Harlow Street. She found great joy in her employment at the Broadway McDonald's for approximately 12 years and her long term association with the Bangor Senior Center. Pat maintained fond family ties with family in England. She was most proud to receive formal recognition from Queen Elizabeth in 2008 for her service in the British Women's Land Army during a time of war.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Albert, Richard and Donald Biddiss and sister Eileen Fox all from England, her husband, Malcolm Wayne McMullen, daughter, Sharon Aiken Hayes and son-in-law Richard C Lawhorne. Surviving are daughters: Eileen M Lawhorne, Toms River, NJ, Victoria J McMullen, Chelsea, Maine, Marlene Jenman McMullen-Pelsor and husband James, Manchester, Maine, Holly M Bean and husband Robert, Lincoln, Maine, Patti L Miller, Inverness, Florida, Shawna McMullen, Bangor, Maine, many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Following cremation, a private gathering and celebration will be held at a later date.
