Patricia's Story

CHESTER - Patricia Thompson Ireland was taken unexpectedly from us on April 21, 2016 at EMMC surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 9, 1951 to Rueben Ambris and Pauline Mae (Coon) Thompson.

Patty enjoyed spending time with family and going to bingo. She spent many years fighting with alcoholism and was proud of her 8 years of sobriety and made many friends through the program. Patty was also proud to be smoke free for 8 years.

She is survived by her husband, Russel Ireland, Sr.; children, Alysia Hunter and her fiancé James Ganthier, Jeremy Hunter, Cindy Reilly and her husband Shawn Reilly, and Jack Thompson and his wife Nicole Thompson; step children, Missie Crockett, Russel Ireland, Jr. and his wife Heather Ireland, Bobbi-Jo Morrison and her husband Barry Morrison, Victor Ireland, Donna Johnson and her husband Jonathan Johnson, and Gene Lee and his wife Meredith; 13 grandsons, 9 granddaughters, 3 great granddaughters and 5 great grandsons; sisters, Roene Trueworthy, Irene Philbrook and Joanne Lane; brothers, Jack Thompson, Jimmy Thompson and Carl Thompson; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Cyde Merrill. Patty was predeceased by her parents and 2 brothers, Terry Thompson and Robert Thompson.

Friends and family will notice a void in their lives from this wonderful woman's passing. She had touched so many people's lives with her kindness. Friends may visit with her family from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at Clay Funeral Home where funeral services will take place Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Mark W. York officiating.
