GREENVILLE - Ovila L. Maheux, 83, died August 8, 2014 at his home in Greenville. He was born August 10, 1930 in Ste.-Aurelie, Canada, a son of Joseph Philemon and Lydia (Toulouse) Maheux.

Ovila worked for International Paper for many years as a foreman. He loved working in the woods and started his own company as a lumber contractor, Ovila Maheux, Inc., where he employed many people. He also enjoyed gardening. He was well known throughout Greenville as having the house with thousands of Christmas lights. Ovila was a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzanne (Gilbert) Maheux; 2 sons, Alain Maheux of St-Prosper, Canada, and Serge Maheux and his spouse, Denise of Quebec, Canada; 5 daughters and their spouses, Carole and Nelson Veilleux of St-Benjamin, Canada, Josette and Robert Deblois of St-George, Canada, Chantal Maheux and Kendall Chandler of Greenville, Dannie Maheux of Greenville, and Linda and John Melvidas of Danville, NH; 2 brothers, Louis Aimee and Victor; 4 sisters, Rita, Marie Louise, Carmelle, and Irene; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; 2 brothers, Victor and Gerard; a daughter, Nicole; a sister-in-law, Paquerette; and a grandson, Stephane.

Friends and family may call Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Pritham Ave. in Greenville, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 14th at 11 AM, with Rev. Fr. Kevin Martin, Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Greenville Cemetery.
