Oneal Leland Labbe

- Oneal Leland Labbe, 73, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. He was born in Madawaska on April 24, 1943, the son of Leland and Rosa (Saucier) Labbe, the oldest of 13 siblings.
Oneal served in the United States Army from May 1961 to October 1981 that included two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne, 5th Special Forces, Green Berets. Through the years he received several prestigious awards including the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star for Valor, Vietnam Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Commendation Medal, and the Distinguished Instructor Award. Settling in Limestone, Oneal had a ten year career at with base supply at Loring A.F.B. Followed with ten years with D.F.A.S. In retirement he enjoyed belonging to the Knights of Columbus, being a lifetime member of the VFW and volunteering with the Limestone/ Caswell Historical Society.
He and his wife, the former Velma Ann Beaulieu, were married on November 9, 1963. Through the years they enjoyed fishing, camping and riding their four wheeler.
He is survived by his wife Velma of 53 years, his children Andrea and her husband Scott St. Amand of Schertz, TX, Susan and her husband Scott DiProfio of Rosamond, CA, Sharon and her husband Shawn Pelletier of New Sweden, ME, his grandchildren, Andrew, Alyssa, Ashley, Katelyn, Zachary, and Benjamin, and six great grandchildren. In addition, he will be missed by his siblings, Theresa, Delores, Leo, Beatrice, Lorraine, Paul, David, Daniel, Roland and Mary.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Phillip, and a sister, Rosemarie.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church in Limestone. As per Oneal's request there will be a viewing preceding the funeral at 9 a.m. for immediate family at Lancaster Funeral Home. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at
