Octave's Story

MILFORD - Octave J. Raymond, 77, died February 27, 2016, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born March 12, 1938, the 5 th of 12 children, born to the late Joseph and Lydia (Belanger) Raymond.

He attended Old Town schools and was a life-long member of Holy Family Parish. He proudly served his country in the Army, Air Force and National Guard. Octave was a carpenter by trade and managed and maintained various rental properties during his career. Octave always enjoyed a good practical joke, especially when he was not on the receiving end. He had a big heart and loved his family, and had a special place in his heart for his many dogs he had over the years, all named Spike.

Octave is survived by two sisters, Alfreda Mower and Theresa Ouellette; five brothers, Father Wilfred, Edmond, Richard, Gerald and Deacon Hector; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Ramona King and Winnifred Searle; and brothers, Ovila and Edward.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday March 11, 2016, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 with Rev. Wilfred Raymond, celebrant at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. A light luncheon will be served in the Parish Hall. Spring burial with full military honors will be conducted at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to an animal Rescue Charity of one's choice or to the Holy Family Parish building fund, 429 Main St., Old Town, ME 04468.
