Norman's Story

BANGOR - Norman E. Philbrick, 89, devoted husband of Jean (Hussey) Philbrick, lost his battle with cancer at home surrounded by his family on December 24, 2015. He was the son of the late Roy L. and Alice (Smith) Philbrick.

Norman was born on October 16, 1926, in Old Town, Maine and resided in Alton, Maine. He attended Alton elementary school and graduated from Old Town High School in 1945.

He worked for the state of Maine as a fish culturist and hatchery manager for 38 years. Norman was a proud mason of 56 years, a member of Fort Kent Lodge #209, Anah Shrine, Scottish Rite, and Bangor Grange #372.

Norman is survived by his wife of 60 years Jean, son Wayne and his partner Bryan Giles, son Mark and his wife Christine (Arbour) Philbrick; a granddaughter, Alice; a grandson, Eric, and several nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by a brother Maynard, an infant brother, Arnold Roy; and a granddaughter Lindsey.

In lieu of funeral, there will be a private graveside service at Alton cemetery.
