- Norma I. (Casey) Hill, 80, passed away peacefully on Jan. 18, 2017, at home with her loving husband after an eight year battle with dementia. She was born on June 18, 1936, in Milltown, the daughter of James F. and Rose M. (Darling) Casey. She was lucky number 5 out of her family of 10. After losing her mother Rose at 11, she acquired her step Mother Mary along with her added and adored sisters Frances and Mary.
Norma graduated from Calais High School Class of 1954. She loved the Glee Club and anything to do with music, dancing, and socializing. She married the love of her life Philip E. Hill on July 4, 1955. They began their family in Calais and eventually settled in Houlton, where they loved, laughed, and fought with the kids for an incredible 62 years. After she got her 5 boys through school, she worked at Day's Jewelry where most people came to know her. Later on she enjoyed doing nursing work for home care and then she ended up working with Kevin and Jane at Ken's store and according to most of her customers made the best subs next to Kevin's palatable pizzas. She loved to dance, she loved to sing, she loved laughing with family and friends. She loved the Church, singing in the choir and working with the Council of Catholic Women.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Fred, Leo, John, Michael, and beloved sister Theresa. Surviving in addition to her husband Phil are her sisters Barbara and husband Arthur Savoy, Margaret Feaster, Frances and husband Roger Holst, Mary and husband David Davis. Her sons Gary, Kenneth and wife Shannon, Eric, Michael and wife Brenda, David and wife Margaret. Her grandchildren Cory, Travis, Graig and wife Katie, Casey and husband Chris Smith, Ethan and partner Emily,Cole, Dustin, Noah and fiance Allison, Jordan, Ryan and fiance Tanna, and Natalie. Great grandchildren Annie and Rosie Hopkins, Patrick Smith, Olivia Hill and Carter Hill.
She was a great fighter. Rest in peace Mother! We Love You and will see you at the never ending dance and karaoke on the other side! Friends may call 10 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the St. Mary of the Visitation Parish where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Father David Raymond, celebrant. The family invites relatives and friends to a time of refreshment at the Parish Hall following the service. Committal service will be held at a later date.
