Noella's Story

VAN BUREN - Noella (Carroll) Michaud, 88, died peacefully Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at a Caribou hospital, following a brief illness. She was born December 25, 1925 in Grand Falls, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lottie (Daigle) Carroll.

Noella was a teacher with SAD #24, covering Van Buren, Hamlin and Cyr Plantation, for over 16 years before her retirement. Previously she worked several years with the Royal Bank of Canada, Grand Falls, NB, Canada. She was a parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, where she served many years as a Eucharistic Minister, assisted with the Mercy Meal committee and sang in the church choir. She was a devout member of 69 years with the Daughters of Isabella, serving as former State Treasurer and past Local Regent. Her and her husband were avid square dancers and often enjoyed dancing in Canada and the United States. She loved painting and shared all of her art with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending many summers at the family cottage on Long Lake with family and friends.

She is survived by: five children, Thomas Michaud, Anne Violette and her husband, Daniel, both of Van Buren, James Michaud and his wife, Renee of Montreal, QC, Canada, Loueen Michaud and her husband, Fabien of Grand Falls, NB, Canada and Mona Jean Rogals and her husband, Michael of Orwell, VT; one sister, Beverly Sullivan of Merced, CA; nine grandchildren, Niki, Lori, Tom, Jeff, Peggy, Brian, Monique, Michael, and Michelle; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special nieces and nephew, Ricky Bourgoin, Carol Desjardins and Lise LaForge. Besides her parents, Noella is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Reginald Michaud in 2010, two siblings, Gordon Carroll and Irma Bourgoin, and a granddaughter, Kelly-Rose Michaud.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday morning 9-10:30 a.m. at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
