FORT KENT - Nelson Dubay, 71, passed away peacefully, July 20, 2015 surrounded by his family at a Fort Kent Health Care Facility. Nelson was born in Winterville on June 7, 1944. He was the son of Sylvio and Gertrude (Dubois) Dubay.
Nelson was a self employed truck driver all of his life -"It took a good man to haul as much wood as he did." His favorite hobbies were motorcycling, which included traveling to the Four Corners of the United States in only 17 days in 2009, snowmobiling and an ATV enthusiast. He enjoyed maintaining and grooming the recreational trail systems in the Valley. Often times,when home, Nelson would tinker doing mechanic work in his garage. He was able to fix anything! He truly enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends and loved watching Nascar. He had a sincere passion for keeping his vehicles spotless.
He was a life member of the Fort Kent Knights of Columbus in the 3rd degree council #0352, Valley Snow Riders, Gold Wing Association, Fort Kent and Frenchville ATV Club's. He also enjoyed giving ATV rides for the residence at Cross Winds. During the Fort Kent Biathlon World Cup he drove athletes to and from their venue's and hotels. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years. Nancy (Ouellette) Dubay of Fort Kent. Two sons; Danny and wife Sue of St. Francis, Dale and wife Susan of Fort Kent. Two daughters; Kathie Dubay of Westminister, MD, Vicky Dubay of Winslow. Ten grandchildren, Krista, Tyson, Dustin, Samantha, Kayla, Mackenzie, Madison, Kegan, Kassadi, and Karsten. His three siblings; Leora Roy of Fl., Clayton Dubay and wife Anne of Ct., Leona (Michaud) and husband Louis of Eagle Lake. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Gerald Dubay.
Friends may call Thursday July 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 9:30 am at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Friday at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery.
