OLD TOWN - Neal F. Lowell, 82, formerly of Old Town died at Sacramento, CA on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014 at his home.
Neal graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1951.
Neal was a model airplane hobbyist. He often was seen flying airplanes at Herbert Gray School Track and during half time at football games. Neal served two years in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Japan. Neal graduated from U of M Orono with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1958. He then moved to Sacramento and was employed by the U. S. Federal Government for 25 years and the State of California for 10 years as a mechanical engineer. He was in the Army Corp of Engineers and traveled extensively around the country. Neal was a private pilot for 40 years and a member of the California Flying Club. Neal designed and built model airplanes, winning many state meets.
Neal was predeceased by his parents, Charles W. Lowell Sr. and Florence Foss Lowell of Old Town and a brother Charles W. Lowell, Jr., Calais. He leaves a sister Norma Lowell Bishop, Hampden, the love of his life Lucille Patitucci, Carmichael, CA, step-granddaughter Katerina Bailes, Sacramento, CA, cousins John LaForge and Avis Manchester, Machias and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be on June 28, 2015 at 1 pm, at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
