Portsmouth, NH - Nancy Lee (Devine) Whitworth, 69, beloved wife of Brian Whitworth, passed peacefully at her home in Portsmouth, N.H., on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, with family by her side. Nancy was born on April 30, 1947, daughter of Ethel and Emery Devine Sr. of Fort Fairfield, Maine.
Nancy graduated from Fort Fairfield High School and the University of Maine and received her MBA from Whittemore School of Business in Durham, N.H. She was employed as a bookkeeper at America Finance in Portsmouth, N.H. She was a social worker for the state of N.H. She was the Director of Financial Planning at Omni Hotels. She was a co-owner of several small businesses. She also worked in finance at Beaufort Naval Air Station in SC and was a marine spouse employment coach at Parris Island Marine Station. Throughout the years, she has had a significant impact on this world and left a lasting, positive imprint on many people.
Nancy thoroughly enjoyed her family and friends. She enjoyed, reading, shag dancing, puzzles, interior decorating, and art collecting. Most of all she loved to spread calm and joy. For this, she will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her father Emery Devine Sr., and her brother Emery Devine Jr. She is survived by her mother Ethel, her devoted husband Brian Whitworth of Portsmouth, N.H., and Bluffton, S.C., her sister Anna Tremblay and husband Roger of Fort Fairfield, Maine, her brother Michael and Candi Devine of Biddeford, Maine, her sister Mary and Dale Peers of Eaton, Maine, her sister Elizabeth and Jeffrey Norris of Crestview, Fla., brother John Devine of Bangor, Maine and Lisa Devine of Howland, Maine, as well as several adored nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, at 98 Summer Street, in Portsmouth, N.H., on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
