Newport - Murray 'Kit' Robert Thibodeau, 81, died October 18, 2016, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born April 13, 1935, in St. Francis, a son of Leonard and Phoebe (Jandreau) Thibodeau.
He joined the U. S. Navy in January, 1955, and served his country on the ship U. S. S. North Hampton based in Virginia. He travelled all over the world, meeting the Pope while he was in Rome. He came home in 1957, met and married his wife, Linda Pelletier in 1958. They moved to Connecticut and raised their family there. During this time he was employed at General Motors, retiring in 1991. In 1992, they returned to his beautiful state of Maine so he could do what he loved best, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Linda, he is survived by his children; son Gregory "Chuck" and wife Lena Thibodeau of Newport; daughter Dina McCarthy and her partner Jason Higney of Winsted, CT; 6 grandchildren, Dustin and Tiffany Thibodeau of FL, Billy Bloomer and partner Machaela Grinnell of St. Albans, Connor and Kayleigh McCarthy, and Ethan Higney, all of CT; one great grandson Maddox Bloomer of St. Albans; a sister Betty Brann of St. Francis whom he talked with every day; a sister in law Lucille Thibodeau of Lee; brother in law Roderick Pelletier of NY; brother in law Galen and his wife Greta Pelletier; brother in law Carroll and wife Jeanette Pelletier, all of CT; many nieces and nephews. He also will be remembered by his best friends Elmer and Bea Belanger of CT.
He was predeceased by his parents; 2 brothers Melvin and Sylvio Thibodeau; a sister in law Theresa Thibodeau; and a brother in law Donald Brann.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Koffman, Jennifer Reynolds, M. A., and St. Joseph Hospice for the loving care they gave to Murray, especially Marylyn, Diane and Courtney. He loved you. He will be missed.
