- Morris H. Ward, 87, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, following a brief illness. He was born May 17, 1929, in Limestone, the son of Marion Frances and Theresa Elvina (Lauritsen) Ward.
Morris was a graduate of Limestone High School Class of 1946. He served in the U.S.Army during the Korean War, stationed at the 34th General Hospital in Germany.
A lifelong resident of Limestone, Morris worked as a farm laborer. He was an avid reader with knowledge covering a broad range of subjects. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and sharing the produce. He especially loved hiking and long walks and could be seen doing errands on foot in Limestone and Caribou. He hiked the Maine section of the Appalachian Trail many summers.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Josiah, and three sisters, Ruth Ireland, Virginia Prout, and Gloria Wiley. He is survived by two brothers, Reginald and his wife Arlene of Presque Isle and Perry and his wife Betty of Cumberland, IN. as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Rising Hill in Limestone for their compassionate care.
