AUGUSTA - Millicent M. MacFarland, died Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the age of 58. She was born August 24, 1956 to Kenneth and Betty Morrison.
She was a graduate of Erskine Academy and the University of Maine at Augusta, attaining her Bachelor's Degree. Millie served in the US Army Reserves. Ms. MacFarland had been employed by the Maine State Legislature for over 30 years, the last 12 of them as the Clerk of the Maine House of Representatives. Millie was Past President of the American Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries, served on the Mason's Manual of Legislative Procedure Commission and former executive committee member of the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Ms. MacFarland was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Morrison and a brother, Kenneth Morrison, Jr. She leaves behind her loving fiancé, Patrick O'Donnell of Lincoln, NE; son, Nick MacFarland of Augusta; mother, Betty (Trask) Morrison of Craftsbury, VT; sister, Marie Haller and her husband, Mike of Allison Park, PA; brothers, Mike Morrison and his wife, Olga of Craftsbury, VT, Mark Morrison and his wife, Mary of Fitchburg, MA; many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 5th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7th at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta. Private burial and committal prayers will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MaineGeneral's Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care to benefit the Millicent M. MacFarland Endowment Fund.
