TRENTON, Fla., and BANGOR - Mildred "Millie" Childs, 69, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 28, 1944, Eagle Lake, the daughter of Wilford and Virginia (Dube) Pelkey. Millie grew up in Woodville.
She had many accomplishments including earning her Beautician's and Bartender's licenses and worked as a cook in restaurants and nursing homes. Millie enjoyed cooking, crocheting, painting, puzzles and crafts. Her family is what she treasured the most in life.
She is survived by five children, Robin Wiley and partner, Dale Simonds, Kevin Gilbert, Lisa Eaton and husband, Chuck, Tammy Champoux and partner, Bob Taylor, Mary Stewart and husband, Daniel; ten grandchildren, Michelle, Edward, Mary, Crystal, Holly, C.J., Kevin, Beau, John, Mariah, Siera, Mackenzie; and five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, Cody, Noah, and Jayden. She also leaves behind 11 siblings, Sylvia, Milford, Raymond, Theresa, Nelson, Roger, Marlene, Dean, Melvin, Donald, Carolyn, and their spouses; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert; a brother, Norman; and sisters, Lorena and Jeannette.
The family would like to thank all the caring nurses and staff at New Hope Hospice. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Grace Bartlett officiating.
