Michael's Story

BREWER - Michael W. Porter, 55, died May 28, 2015 at a Bangor hospital after a seven month illness. He was born Apr. 30, 1960 in Bangor, the son of Donald A. Porter and Marion F. (Coleman) Porter.

Mike was a 1979 graduate of Bangor High School and served four years with the US Air Force and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. From 1986 to 1989, he attended and received a diploma from the Joe Kubert School of cartooning and graphic arts in New Jersey. Mike had encyclopedic knowledge of old movies, enjoyed comics and had eclectic taste in music. He was talented in many art forms. Presently, he was in the midst of putting together his own comic book series.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Marion F. Porter of Brewer are one sister, Victoria M. Porter of Malden, Mass. and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike is loved and will be missed by many.

Family and friends may visit 11 AM to 1 PM Monday, June 1, 2015 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor where a funeral service honoring his life will be held at 1 PM as the visitation concludes. Burial with military honors will be immediately afterward at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
