Michael's Story

Caribou - Michael A. Martin, 60, passed away November 20, 2016, at Bangor. He was born in Caribou, December 19, 1955, the son of the Lawrence and Thelma (Levesque) Martin. He was a 1974 graduate of Caribou High School and then received his associate's degree in mechanics from Eastern Maine Technical College.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Michael was employed at Bennett's Texaco for several years, then spent a number of years in Florida, where he was employed as the head mechanic/ boiler operator aboard a salvage ship, traveling the world. He then returned to Limerick, Maine, where he owned and operated Jonathan Michaels Restaurant prior to his early retirement due to declining health.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Caribou, are his son, Jonathan Michael Martin of Bangor, his brother, Robert Martin of Palmyra, New York, his sister and brother in law; Mary and Mark Richmond of Londonderry, N.H. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike was predeceased by his father, Larry in 1982, his sister Betty in 1980, and his brother Richard in 2011.
Friends may visit with the family 6-8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 28, 2016. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, from the Chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home with V.Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, officiating. Following the service, all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW.
