- Michael A. Berube, 59, died Oct. 22, 2016, in Eddington, after a rapid decline from Alzheimer's disease. He was born Aug. 31, 1959, in Lewiston, the son of Wilfred A. and Yvette M. (Gerardin) Berube.
Survivors include his father of Thomaston; four sisters, Claire McClain of Newport News, Va.; Jeannine Route of Thomaston; Sidney Abbott of Bangor; Nancy Wohlganger of Union; one brother, Paul Berube of Thomaston. He was predeceased by his mother.
Mike lived in several boarding homes, but particularly enjoyed visits to Bangor, where he made many friends in the Recovery Community and enjoyed picking up chips at 12-step meetings. He attended chem-free dances DJ'd by Stu Mann and spent time with the French Street gang. Mike's job in this world, which he did with exemplary skill, was to make every person he encountered happy.
Friends are invited to attend a potluck gathering in Mike's memory 2-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at 243 Union St., Apt. 5, Bangor. Because Mike had a special love of $1 bills, those attending are invited to bring a dollar bill in Mike's honor to benefit Hospice of Eastern Maine.
