A Fixer of Everything, Helping All
- Michael (Mike) August Baessler, 65, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully and with the loving presence of his wife and three sons on February 18, 2017, at the Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was born in New York on October 20, 1951, and he was adopted by loving parents, Hugo and Helen Baessler. He grew up in Plainview, NY and eventually traveled out west to California to earn his degree in Electrical Engineering. While there, he met his first wife, Jo Ann, and they married. They eventually found themselves in the Chicago area, where they had three loving children, Jeremy, Derek, and Aaron. Though things did not work out with this first marriage, he eventually did meet the love of his life, Happye, and they happily married in 1993. His family grew immensely with this marriage, as Happye had four children of her own, Raymond, Chris, Raven, and Erin.
Mike set up shop in St. Charles, IL for many years. He owned his own business, Electronic Express, where he would fix almost any electronic, mainly focusing on TVs and stereos. He lived and worked here for many years, while each child grew older and moved on to begin their own families. As time went on, he and his wife decided that moving back to the East Coast would be best. They moved out to Whiting, ME in 2003, where they continued the business. Despite complaining of being so busy in life, he would always revel in any opportunity to help others. He became a volunteer fire fighter for the rural community he lived in; he took on extra work and began performing house calls to repair any electronic or appliance; despite drinking heavily a majority of his life, he even became a face of Alcoholics Anonymous for the community and religiously opened many meetings, helping the lives of so many others. By the time he passed, he was well over seven years sober. He was respected by and touched the lives of everyone he interacted with in life.
He leaves his beloved wife, Happye Baessler, along with his sons, Jeremy Baessler and his wife Lisa, Derek Baessler and his wife Cheryl, and Aaron Baessler. He leaves four step-children, Raymond Clark and his wife Stacy, Christopher Clark and his wife Sarah, Raven Stromek and her husband Ed, and Erin Emeritz and his wife Kristina. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild behind.
Family and friends will all get together in the Spring or Summer of 2017 to celebrate Mike's wonderful life.
