Merton's Story

MILFORD - Merton Royce Lugdon ""Luggie" passed away Sept. 1, 2015, at his home in Milford. He was born Aug. 1, 1931, in Milford, the son of Bertis and Laura Pearl (Vowles) Lugdon.

Royce was a lifelong resident of Milford, graduating from Old Town High School in 1950. He was a 50-year IBEW member, working as an Union Electrician for many companies throughout his career. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, and was a lifetime member of the Star in the East Lodge #60 AF & AM, Old Town. He was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He loved to play cards, go camping and go out to eat, and just dicker with anyone who happened to stop by.

Royce was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Durwood Pelkey, Bertis Jr. and Owen Lugdon; and a special family member, Dennis Gideon. Royce lost his wife of 62 years just a month ago. He missed her terribly during those short weeks. He is survived by his children, Jackie and Kevin Tesseo of Orrington, Carlene Lugdon, Royce Lugdon, both of Milford, and Lynn Lugdon and Peter O'Leary of Hudson. He will be greatly missed by his grandsons, Ron Banks, Ryan Tesseo "Grandpa's Ry" and Ethan O'Leary; and by his many dear friends, including Jan Welch; and his nieces, nephews and cousins. Royce will be greatly missed by his special neighbors, Dana and Kathy Carson and their families.

Per Dad's request, there will be no funeral services. Those wishing to honor his memory may donate to the Lafayette Family Cancer Center, 33 Whiting HIll Road, Brewer, ME, 04412, attn: Donations.
