EAST MILLINOCKET - Merle R. Nelson, a true gentleman of the old school, has passed on. He was a very independent soul who made his own way in life.
Merle was a true patriot, an honorable man, and a dear friend to many. He had zest for life and learning, extraordinary skill translating images in his mind's eye into reality, and a willingness to share everything he knew. Quick with a jest, often loud with opinion, he seldom followed the well-traveled path. Merle will be deeply missed, not for what he took with him but for what he brought to the picnic.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny and his five children,
Nancy Davis, Diane Waite, Kris Nelson, Karla Nelson and Donna Barnes; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. God Bless his journey; he has made ours easier.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 9 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Avenue, East Millinocket. The family wishes to thank the staff at Millinocket Regional Hospital
for their amazing care and compassion. In lieu of flowers we prefer donations be made in his name to the Millinocket Regional Hospital, 200 Somerset St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
