Melvin's Story

FORT KENT - Melvin Godin, 83, died peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2016 at a Fort Kent Health Care Facility. He was born on June 9, 1932 in Fort Kent the son of Gilbert and Regina (Theriault) Godin.

He was member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus of Fort Kent. Melvin's greatest love was helping his family, and loved animals, especially his dog, Snuffles. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Pauline (Daigle) Godin of Wallagrass. Three children; Judy Ann and her husband Eldon Pelletier of Millinocket, Steven and his wife Shelli Godin of Barrington, NH, Kim Marie Godin and her fiancé Jim Daigle of Sabago Lake. Seven grandchildren; Cassie Lynn Pelletier, Erika Marie Linkletter, Aaron Pelletier, Ryan Godin, McKenzie Godin, Kayla Fisher, Tianah Jean Fisher. Seven great-grandchildren; Kassidy, Aaliyah, Jackson, Carter, Shaylee, Samyah, and Nathan. Nine brothers; Maurice and wife Deloris Godin, Allen and wife Brenda Godin, David Godin, Gilbert Jr. and wife Arlene Godin, Roger and wife Maryanne Godin, Bertrand and wife Yvonne Godin, Philip and wife Laura Godin, Patrick and wife Laurine Godin, Rodney and wife Arlene. Five sisters; Kathy and husband Thomas Martin, Marie and husband Ronald Sonier, Albertine Picard, Glenda and husband Roy Chamberlain, and Darlene Ouellette.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers; Gilman and Hurbert Godin. Two sisters; Rena Godin and Geraldine Saucier.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10:30 am Tuesday at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held on May 9, 2016 in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Soldier Pond. Those who wish in Melvin's memory may donate to the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St. Fort Kent.
