INDIAN ISLAND - Maxine H. Judson, 80, died peacefully April 23, 2016 at a Bangor hospital surrounded by her family. She was born June 1, 1935 in Old Town a daughter of Mary Louise (Francis) and Raymond Paul.
Maxine was extremely proud of her family and her Native heritage, she came from a long line of basket makers and musicians. She lived in PA and CT for many years, returning to Maine in 1979. She was employed in Home Health and Hospice for Penobscot Nation or over 20 years. Maxine was always available to lending a caring hand; preparing meals for families that had none, hosting the Sisters of Mercy, giving rides to those in need; or rocking and cuddling any baby she could. She found a tremendous peace rocking an infant. She was an avid Bingo player. She enjoyed trips to the coast, and would complete the day with a Maine lobster dinner. Maxine's faith was paramount in her life and she was a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Indian Island, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by four daughters: Dottie Sockbeson and husband Albert Jr. of FL, Carol Morgan of Orono, Linda Socoby and husband Michael Sr of Indian Island, and Sue Preble and husband Tom of Bradley. Affectionately known as Ga by her grandchildren, Stephanie Ballesteros, Jessica Moores, Morgan Talty, Michael Socoby Jr., Jade Socoby, Lily Preble, Julie Preble, and Elizabeth Preble; 5 great grandchildren, Ernesto, Evalyn, and Elden Ballesteros, Joao Alves Jr., and Josie Moores; also surviving is a sister, Laurie Barnes; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Daniels; and two brothers, Joseph Francis and Nelson Francis.
A time of visitation and gathering will be held 10am - 12 noon Tuesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Indian Island, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1PM Tuesday April 26, 2016.
