Maurice's Story

CASTLE HILL - Maurice "Spanky" White, LTC, US Army retired, age 80 died peacefully in his sleep June 9, 2016 at Houlton Regional Hospital. Spanky was born July 23, 1935 in Presque Isle, Maine.

Spanky proudly served our nation for 23 years in the US Army. He also was a MSAD#1 educator for 27 years. He was active in his community as a member of the Mapleton Lions Club and V.F.W 6187 of Fort Fairfield.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sylvia of 59 years; his sister, Linda White of Chapman, Maine; daughters Parise Carney of Herman Maine, Marchelle White of Brunswick, Maine, Denise (Wayne) Smith of Weston, Maine, Francine (Bob) Sabisch of Hubert, North Carolina; son, John (Virginia) White of Bradford, Maine; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents John L. and Mary M. (Bellefleur) White and his sister, Maureen Burdette.

Visitation will be held 9-11 am, June 13, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Presque Isle where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am. Interment with Military Honors will follow the service at Caribou Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
