MATTAWAMKEAG - Maurice T. "Dick" Peters, 80, husband of Theresa (Leavitt) Peters, died February 15, 2015, at his home. He was born June 25, 1934, in Lee, the son of Harry and Isabel (Hamm) Peters.

Maurice enjoyed working in area churches, as a handi-man and helping with bible schools. He was an avid outdoorsman, a skilled woodworker and enjoyed painting. He attended the Methodist and Zion Pentecostal churches in Mattawamkeag.

In addition to his wife, Theresa, of Mattawamkeag, he is survived by three children, Michael Peters and Annaliza, of Louisiana and their children, Jacob, of New York and Nathan, of Louisiana, Mark Peters and Nadia, of North Carolina and Elisabeth Peters, of Massachusetts; five siblings, Vaughn Peters, and Woodford Peters and Beulah, all of Mattawamkeag, Donna Heath and Paul, of Vassalboro, Patricia Albert and Leonard, of Tennessee and Maxine Heath, of Augusta; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by Theresa's extended family. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Jean Peters.

There will be a service of remembrance 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21st, at Mattawamkeag Church of God, with Leonard Albert officiating, with a luncheon to follow in the fellowship hall. Burial will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
