Maurice's Story

GARLAND - Maurice Clayton Doore, 85, died peacefully Nov. 18, 2015 at home with his loving family at his side. He was born Oct. 8, 1930 in Charleston, the son of Clifford and Laura (Farmer) Doore.

He lived his childhood in Charleston and has been a resident of Garland since 1962. He was a woodsman and worked hard for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking.

He is survived by four daughters, Rita West and husband, Ronald, Donna Merry and husband, Gordon, Brenda Doore and a very special daughter, Amy Sue Doore; a son, Michael Doore and wife, Debbie; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a very special sister, Dorothy Cole. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly Ann Doore, a son Maxwell Charles Doore, four brothers, Harland, Harold, Lorenzo and Charles Doore and two sisters, Gladys Downs and Leone Palmer.

There will be a graveside service at the Evergreen Cemetery in Garland at 12 Noon Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 and a gathering of family and friends at the Garland Grange Hall following the service. Arrangements are in care of Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth.
