- Matthew Steven Shelley, 53, died unexpectedly June 23, 2017 at home.
He was born January 23, 1963 at a Waterville Hospital, the son of Lyle and Sharon (Wiggin) Shelley.
Matthew graduated from Hermon High class of 1983. He worked 22 years for the railroad.
Matt is survived by his wife of 25 years Mary (Russell), his sons Samuel and Steven from Hermon, daughter Kathryn and granddaughter Bethany of Tennessee. His parents Sharon Shelley, and Lyle and Muriel Shelley of Hermon, siblings Michael and Tawnya Shelley of Plymouth, Lee and Tara Shelley of Hermon, and Jennifer Willey of Hermon, step brother Paul Bernard of Bangor, step sisters Terry and Greg Clukey of Lowell, Bobbie-Jo and Michael Stiggle of Mars Hill. He will also be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by Richard and James Russell of Bangor.
He was a loving husband, great father, son and breadwinner. He enjoyed camping with family and friends at Debsconeag. He also gave the best HUGS.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Hermon Baptist Church on Saturday July 1st.
Visitations will be at 1:00 p.m. and a service will be held at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held downstairs following the service with refreshments.
