MaryRuth's Story

Text size

Millinocket - MaryRuth (Bouchard) Reed, 89, wife of the late Carl Reed, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017. She was born March 21, 1928, in Millinocket, the oldest daughter of Nazie and Ruth (Clark) Bouchard.
She was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1946. She has been a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Millinocket. MaryRuth was a vibrant, loving, and compassionate lady. It didn't matter whether you were a family friend or an acquaintance, she had a way of making you feel loved and appreciated. Her zest for life was contagious and was with her until the end. She loved people and her natural joy drew them to her.
She was a stay at home mom having various jobs on Millinocket's main street before her children were born. She enjoyed her mornings at McDonald's with the girls and Bill. For years, she lunched with the class of '45 and the class of '46 on the first Wednesday of the month.
She will be missed very much by all who knew her. She has left her mark on them. She loved travelling and playing the slots. She and her sister once hit 13 casinos in one day in Las Vegas. She and her son Mike shared a love for the Patriots - the only football team. Nancy and Sandra, her nieces, will miss the Sunday lunches that they so enjoyed together.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, William "Bill" Reed, her two sisters and their husbands, Joan and Stanley "Ted" Thorpe, and Carole and Leo "Red" Kittrick, her sister in law, Mary Oldham and a brother in law, Kenneth Reed.
MaryRuth is survived by her son, Carl "Mike" Reed; daughter, Diane Fiske and her husband Doug; daughter in law, Rhonda Reed, and sister in law, Anne Erickson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelley and Carrie Cram, Billie Gene and Steven Reed, and Carl Mike and Christopher Reed; great grandchildren, Zack, Ethan, Ryley, Kamryn, Payton, Nicholis, Trinity, and Trey. She is an aunt to many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 1-2 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the First Congregational Church of Millinocket, where funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Terry Given, pastor. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of MaryRuth may be sent to the First Congregational Church of Millinocket, P.O. Box 507, Millinocket, ME 04462.
