- Marylin Janice (Buker) Howard, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday March 6, 2017, at home with her granddaughter April Merritt and pet dog "Jimmy" by her side. She was born November 30, 1922, in Wilton, the daughter of Harold I. and Doris E. (Lincoln) Buker.
Marylin worked at various jobs in her life including sixteen years at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut and sixteen more at Woolworths and Ames in Houlton as a bookkeeper. Throughout her life, she was a member of the Rebekah's Lodge #78 where she was Past Noble Grand as well as Past District Deputy. She was also a longtime member of the Hodgdon Methodist Church where she was President of the Women's Club. Marylin also enjoyed golfing, skiing, camping, and crocheting. Marilyn could be found with her great grandchildren around her. She traveled all over Maine to keep in touch with her family, which is what mattered most to her.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-one years, Gerald "Buzzy" Howard, three children, Delores Merritt, Gary and Loren Hatch, along with many siblings. She is survived by three siblings, Glennys Wilkins, Linda MacKissok, and Richard Buker, two sons, Conrad "Roy" Hatch and his wife Lollie and Keith Hatch and his wife Loretta, several grandchildren including April, and Tammy, many great grandchildren including Cassandra, Sierra, Destiny, and Austin, as well as great-great grandchildren including Gunner, J.J., Gage, and Damien, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 3-5 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m, Friday, March 10, 2017, at the funeral home with the Rev. Marilyn Rohdin officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Hodgdon Cemetery.
