ALTON - Maryann T. (Brown) Goodin 'Bam', 70, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 19, 1944, in Old Town, Maine, the daughter of Lewis G. Brown and Mary P. (Vaillancourt) Brown.
She attended schools in Old Town. She worked numerous years in the shoe factories. She then furthered her education to pursue a career in caring for others. She worked from 1980 to 2000 as a CNA her specialty being cardiac. She was a compassionate loving person in her field. Her hobbies included collecting dolls, crocheting and sharing her "SMUT" books with her beloved friend, Carolyn Cust. She loved day road trips She also enjoyed collecting Shark Teeth, Shells and going to flea markets during her time in Venice, Florida.
The door to the Farm in Alton, her Pushaw Lake home and her Venice, Florida, home were always open to many of her children's friends, who considered her as their second mother. She was known as "BAM" to all. Her first grandson named her that and it followed for all her grandchildren and people throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Frank F. Goodin Sr., her brother, Thomas Brown; and her beloved grandson, Blake. She is survived by her children, Terry and Craig Hill, Cheryl McNerney and Ben Frindt, Walter Thurston and Cristina Thurston; her grandchildren, Blaine, Ashlee, Joshua, Riley, Tatriana, Lindsay and Buddy; great-grandchildren, Shaylee, Maddox, Harmony, TJ and Brynne; numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her siblings, Roseann and her husband, Dennis Grant, Louie Brown, Suzanne and her husband, Jerry Camp, and Carolyn and her husband, Jeff Rash; and special foster children, Rosemarie Curtis and Melissa Williams.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at her daughters Cheryl's home in Alton, Maine, on Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Old Town Animal Orphanage, 71 Airport Road, Old Town, ME 04468.
