Bangor and Brewer
- Mary E. Wardwell passed away on Dec. 31, 2016, at Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. She was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, the only child of Allan and Hilda Estey.
Marys family moved to Castine. She met and married Robert Wardwell. They eventually moved to Bangor and raised their five children. She worked for the University of Maine system for many years before going to work at The Bangor Conservatory of Music. After their retirement, Mary and Bob moved to Villas de Golf in Largo, FL, where they were very active in the community for over 30 years. After Bobs death and with her health failing, she decided to move back to Maine to be closer to her children. She resided at the Ellen M. Leach Home in Brewer, where a wonderful group of staff and friends were always looking out for her. Her family would like to thank the staff of Maine Veterans Home in Bangor for their exception care and kindness she was given in her last five months.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; husband Robert Wardwell; sons Stephen and Robert Jr. She is survived by son David Wardwell and wife Bonnie of Jonesport; daughters Linda Kilborn and husband Larry of Ontario, Canada and Sally Foster and husband Bob of Gardiner; daughter-in-law Rinda Quimby and husband Gary of Orrington; ten grandchildren, including Brent Wardwell who she was especially close to; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
At Marys request there will be no services. Spring burial will take place in Castine.
