HAZLE TOWNSHIP, PA - Marvin Allen Keck, 77, of Hazle Township, PA, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on June 22, 2015 at Celtic Hospice Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Nazareth, PA, on September 25, 1937, he was the son of the late Jonathan and Stella Keck. Marvin married Mary Lou Wagner of Stockertown, PA, on September 27, 1957, and they moved to Baltimore, MD, in 1961 after Marvin graduated from Rider College. Marvin's proud career in human resources took him and his family from Baltimore to Morristown, NJ, and ultimately to Millinocket, ME, where he retired. Marvin and Mary Lou relocated to Hazle Township in 2000.
Marvin enjoyed a variety of activities, many of which he shared with Mary Lou, including golf, cross-country skiing, and travel. In addition, he took up woodworking after retirement and shared much of his handiwork with family and friends. He and Mary Lou were active members of churches wherever they lived - most recently the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Conyngham, PA, through which Marvin participated in many relief trips helping to rebuild homes in storm-stricken areas along the Southern Gulf Coast and in Pennsylvania. Marvin was also an avid fan of professional golf, baseball, and Penn State football. Most importantly, he was kind-hearted, generous, and selfless man who was always quick to lend a helping hand wherever he saw the need.
In addition to Mary Lou, Marvin is survived by his daughter Linda Keck and her husband Frank Mariano of Swoyersville, PA; his son Barth Keck and his wife Maude Bing of Chester CT; his brothers Kenneth Keck of Bath, PA, and L. Doug Keck of Reading, PA; his sisters Maryann Keck of Reading, PA, and Geraldine Datesman of Sinking Spring, PA; and his grandchildren, Jason Colbert of State College, PA, Charissa Colbert of Wyoming, PA, Zachary Keck and Jared Keck of Branford, CT, and Annie Keck of Chester, CT. Marvin also leaves behind a long list of wonderful friends who live up and down the East Coast from Maine to North Carolina.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 am from Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, 467 Main Street, Conyngham, PA, with the Rev. Carolyn Hetrick officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Ev. Lutheran Church PO Box 494, Conyngham, PA, 18219.
