Martin's Story

PENOBSCOT - Martin Scott Johnson, passed away Friday night, April 1, 2016, at roughly 6:33PM. He was in the family home at the time of his passing and surrounded by his loving wife, Carroll; son, Matthew, as well as his daughter-­in­-law, Shannon. His final moments consisted of a last smile and a grateful and loving squeeze of both his hands, one upon his wife of nearly 36 years and the other upon his only son of almost 35 years.

Marty lived a full life from February 3rd of 1960, through the 1st of April 2016. During his lifehe accomplished many things; He was a decorated Army Soldier, a self-­made and skillful finish carpenter, who made many fine furniture and cabinetry projects over the years, mechanic and tractor business owner, Code Enforcement Officer of Penobscot, volunteer firefighter, baseball

coach, mentor and friend to many, loving husband and father, and so much more. It would be much easier to list off the things that he did not do, than to list his accomplishments.

Martin leaves behind; his wife, Carroll Johnson, his son, Matthew Johnson, daughter­in­law, Shannon Trask, and four grand­daughters; Kylie Johnson, Madalynn Benoit­Johnson, Haylee and Heather Jacobs, as well as an adopted grandson, Cole Casey. Marty is also survived by his parents, Harold & Audrey Johnson, two sisters, Wendy Wright and Joy Huffacker, a brother, Gregg Johnson, and various nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Sarah Mae Johnson, his grandparents, and several friends.

Services will be held 11AM on April 30th 2016 at the Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast, ME.

In lieu of flowers and arrangements, please send a donation in his remembrance to either the Bangor Humane Society, St. Jude's Hospital, or The Arbor Day Foundation, these were places that Marty really cared about.
