Martha's Story

LIMESTONE - Martha L. "Louise" Moomey, 72, wife of the late Morris W. Moomey, passed away Wednesday morning, February 10, 2016, at Gosnell Hospice House, Scarborough, following an extended illness. She was born December 21, 1943, in Limestone, the daughter of Ambrose and Elsie (Bell) Brooker.

Louise attended Limestone schools and was married to Morris W. Moomey on April 17, 1971. She had been employed as a waitress in the early 1970s at the Gateway Truck Stop and Restaurant in Newport, and while residing in Limestone, Louise cleaned houses at Loring Air Force Base, as well as seasonally assisting local potato farmers. She also collected and distributed toys during the Christmas season for less fortunate children in the Limestone area, greatly enjoyed country music, loved to fish and was a lifelong communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moomey was predeceased by her husband, Morris, on September 7, 2010; two sons, Martin and Stephen Holton; one brother, Carvel "Sonny" Brooker; and two sisters, Gloria Gray and Elnor Gray. She is survived by one son, Robert W. Moomey of Presque Isle; two daughters, Wanda L. Howie and her husband, Tim, and Roxane L. Bisson, all of Windham; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale "Porky" and Helen Brooker, Vincent "Bimp" Brooker, Stephen "Cappy" and Diane Brooker, all of Limestone; four sisters, Francis "Mickey" Saucier of Wallagrass, Bernadette "Rosie" McLaughlin of Linneus, Dianne Thomas and Brenda Seward and her husband, Gerry, all of Texas; ten grandchildren, Danielle Howie of Gray, Aimee Howie of Windham, Jessica Howie of Auburn, Brittany Mancini of Naugatuck, CT, Rebecca Bisson of Beacon Falls, CT, Kilee Merchant of Bangor, Meagan and Kevin Holton, both of Milford, CT, Andrew Moomey of Caribou and Zakk Moomey of Presque Isle; nine great-grandchildren, Gianna, Gavin and Ava Howie, Payton Strattard, all of Gray, Miley and Michael Petty, both of Windham, Zoe, Annelise and Karter Poisson, all of Bangor; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, February 15, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone, with Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass in the church reception area. Interment will take place at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone, later in the spring.
