CARIBOU - Marlene Joy "DeDe" "MarsBars" Lagasse, 66, passed away due to cancer, Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Caribou Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 22, 1948, in Caribou the daughter of Leonard and Annette (Nadeau) Lagasse, whom she is now at peace with in heaven.

Marlene went to Caribou schools and later went back for her GED which she was very proud of. She worked as a CNA in Connecticut in her early 20's, and then moved back to Caribou where she had her daughter Hope in 1970. She moved to Massachusetts around 1973 with a few of her sisters, and worked as a secretary. In 1980 she moved back to her home town of Caribou where she lived the rest of her life. She worked at Mecon and then at Mr. Paperback where most people remember her beautiful smile.

She enjoyed being with her family and loved the water. She loved going to her sister Pam's farm where most of her family would go during the summer. She spent time there just this last summer with her big family. She loved to draw, had a beautiful singing voice and loved to read her bible and write scriptures from the bible in her journal.

She had a deep love for animals of all kinds and loved to spend time with her sister's dog Sasha Masha and also with her Grand Dogs Beanie and Henry.

Marlene is survived by her only child, daughter Hope Ann (Lagasse) Walton, her son-in-law, Scott Walton, her grandchildren - her greatest happiness in life, Alyson June Michaud, Justin Conrad Walton, and Jacob Scott Walton. She is also survived by her siblings and their family's; Sisters Gloria Katkavich, Rena Lagasse, Debbie Mahar, Pam Morin, Sandra Cochran, Karen Lagasse, Denise Stetkis, and only brother Jeff Lagasse (poor guy right?!). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Marlene is now in heaven with her sisters Carol Townsend, and Becky Holmes who passed before her, and her beloved dogs Tazz and Maggie and cats Tobi and Sam, waiting in heaven.

A home service will be held at her daughter's home at 1 pm on Sunday February 15th, 2015. Please call 551-2799 for further details. Donations may be made in her honor to the family and will be given to a local family struggling with breast cancer.
