OAKLAND - Mark A. "Toby" Tyler, 59, of Oakland, Maine passed away on July 2nd, 2014 at Lakewood in Waterville surrounded by his loving family after a valiant, two-year battle with cancer. He was born on September 22nd, 1954 in Waterville, the son of George and Evangeline Tyler. Toby was a graduate of Messalonskee High School and went on to study at Amherst College. He married Pamela Richards of Caribou on March 20, 1987. In 1990, they realized their dream of starting a farm, which eventually became Riverside Farm Market in Oakland. Together they expanded their business into a thriving restaurant and wine market. Toby's loves in life were his family, friends, farming, wine, and playing guitar with the gypsy jazz trio Mes Amis. He is survived by his wife, Pam, his son, Travis, his daughter, Chelsea, and his brother, Parker. He will be deeply missed by many other relatives, friends, employees, and patrons of Riverside Farm Market. A casual celebration of Toby's life will be held by the river behind his home at 291 Fairfield Street in Oakland on Saturday, July 12th from 2:00pm - 4:00pm (rain location is Riverside Farm Market).
