BUCKSPORT - Mark was born at St. Francis Hospital in Miami Beach FL, and grew up in Coral Gables. His parents; John and Margaret Heistand, were from Lancaster, PA; they had...three children... Steve, Mark and Anne. After graduating Mark served in the Air Force with an Honorable Discharge, worked on the "pipeline" in Alaska & "medically" retired after 37 years as a Head-End tech in engineering from the Cable Industry-CATV. Mark and his wife Dariel were together for 37 years. They lived in Naples, FL and moved to Bucksport (her home state) in 1990. Her daughter Tricia; and son; Todd; accepted him as their #1 go-to Dad. His lab's were his life...The Rainbow Labs...Reiki (yellow) Watsu (black) and Lai Chi (chocolate) were always included 24-7 in everything they did. Home on Poverty Ridge was his passion...so it was there he wished to spend his last moments...he loved camping at Oceanwood with the Labs, kayaking in Silver Lake with his daughter, swimming with pups at Castine Beach, the echo's of his grandchildren at Fort Knox "sunrise and sunset" on the Bucksport river walk, Sunday drives "everyday" and BBQ-ing his famous Rib-eyes on the acorn. He missed his 5 grandkids, 4 Nieces and 2 Nephews with a forever love.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services. ()
