Marjorie's Story

MEDWAY - Marjorie M. Grant, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at her home. She was born September 18, 1945 in Houlton, the daughter of Raymond I. and Lottie M. (Niles) McLean.

Marjorie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. For many years, after raising her seven children, she worked as a caregiver, providing care and comfort to patients who were terminally ill, allowing them to stay in their homes longer. She was a collector of many things, especially hummingbirds and clocks. Her hobbies were numerous, ranging from creating ceramic pieces to needlepoint and quilt making. In addition to collecting hummingbird figurines, she enjoyed watching her hummingbirds. Above all, Marjorie loved her family, and will be thought of often by those who love her.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frederick J. Grant of Medway; six children, Michael and his wife Kathy of East Millinocket, Martin and his wife Mary of Medway, Mark and his partner Larry of Millinocket, Cheryl Grant and her partner Ivan Johnston, Theresa Federico and her husband Dominic, and Ira and his wife Wanda, all of Medway; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; many brothers and sisters; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by a son, Frederick J. Grant, Jr., and a granddaughter, Bailey Rose Grant.

Graveside services will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday, July 15 at the East Millinocket Cemetery, officiated by her grandson, Derrick Grant. Gifts in memory of Marjorie may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, East Millinocket.
