BREWER - Marilyn A. Hilyard, 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep, June 20, 2014 at her home in Brewer. She was born in Presque Isle, May 25, 1934, the daughter of Linwood B. and Ola (Kidney) Currier.
Marilyn worked for the Penobscot County Probate Court and before her retirement worked for Eastern Area Agency on Aging for 20 years as an information and assistance specialist. She enjoyed country music, decorating, shopping and going for coffee at Dunkin Donuts with her family and friends. The true focus and love of Marilyn's life was always on her family. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren and was devoted to them. She will be remembered as a caring and loving, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved children; Rhonda M. Willoughby and husband, Carl of Bangor, Peter T. Hilyard, Sr. and wife Lynn of Brewer, grandchildren; Danielle Stuber and husband, Brett of Brewer, Shauna and Jeff Brown of Bangor, Daniel Joseph Hilyard "Danny" of Brewer, Cody T. Hilyard of Brewer and Peter T. Hilyard, Jr. of Brewer, great-grandchildren; Jack and Luke Stuber and Quincy, Henry and Levi Brown, sisters, Betty C. Hoyt and husband, Floyd of Bangor and Donna C. Slone and husband, Robert of Kentucky, nieces, nephews and a special friend, Karyn Grass. She predeceased by her son, Daniel Joseph Hilyard in 1980 and a sister, Jacqueline W. Overlock in 2013.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, where a memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday.
