LINCOLN - Mariel L. Knights, 80, wife of Arnold Knights, died June 24, 2015, at her home. She was born July 21, 1934, in Lincoln, the daughter of Ernest and Verna (Murphy) Lyons.
Mariel was a mail carrier in Brookton for 30 years. She loved to feed and watch the animals in her back yard, especially the deer. What mattered most to Mariel was her family.
In addition to her husband, Arnold, she is survived by her children, Gaylene Arnista and Alex, of Virginia and Arnold "Butch" Knights, Jr., of Chester; grandchildren, Ashley Coughlin and Kevin, Anthony Arnista and Arikka, James and Aaron; great-granddaughter, Caitlin Coughlin; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; and special friends, The Russell Family of New York.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond Lyons, Ervin "Goose" Lyons and Donald "Deedee" Lyons.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Lincoln Cemetery. A celebration of Mariel's life will be held at her home, 18 Haynes St., Lincoln, immediately following the service.
