Rocky Hill, CT
- Marian G. Tobin, 95, died at her home in Rocky Hill, CT, on Monday, December 19, 2016.
Born in Exeter, Maine, July 15, 1921, she was the daughter of Earl Young and Marjorie (Crowell) Young. She graduated high school in Milo, Maine and later moved with her husband, Robert, to New Britain, CT, where they raised 3 children: Linda, James, and Janet. Marian and Robert settled in Rocky Hill following retirement. They were extremely proud that they had been married nearly 70 years when Robert passed away in 2012. Marian loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She was generous of spirit, always putting the needs and concerns of her loved ones before her own. She and Robert worked hard and sacrificed so that their children had opportunities that they did not. Marian was a devoted wife and a loving, wise mother, as well as a caring daughter and sister. She took great pride in caring for her family and enjoyed baking, sewing, tailoring, gardening, and traveling with Robert once retired.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Mangel) and Janet (LaBella) and Lewis Kimball; her daughter-in-law, Marlene; her brother-in-law, Gay Scurti; as well as her 5 grandchildren, Sean, Colleen, Alison, Meredith, and Susanne, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, James, her sister, Eleanor, and her son-in-law, Larry. She will be greatly missed by all.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers Violet, Debbie, and Celena and to the nurses and aides of the Hartford Healthcare at Home- Hospice Care for their compassionate care and kindness.
