NEWPORT - Marguerite P. Newcomb, 86, died July 1, 2015 at a Bangor, hospital following a short period of ill health.
Marguerite was born in Bangor April 26, 1929 the daughter of Harold and Annie (Leary) Jenne. Marguerite was educated in Etna schools a graduate of Newport High School and a graduate of Beal Business College. She married Earl A "Pat" Newcomb who predeceased her in 2001.
She worked as a waitress in many local restaurants for several years, worked in the office for James Smith Construction and in the office of Nickerson Septic. For the many years she has been the Site Coordinator for the Meals For Me program in Newport.
Marguerite was a member of the High Street Congregational Church in Newport. She was a member of the Victoria Rebecca Lodge, Newport, a member of the Past Nobel Grand's, a member of the Eastville Grange in East Newport, a member of the Newport Senior Citizens, and a member of the H. G. Libby National Woman's Relief Corps of Newport.
Marguerite would reminisce about growing up at the Etna Spiritualist Campground and was the granddaughter of Medium Mary Drake Jenne. She loved to play bingo and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Marguerite is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Maureen M. and Paul Greene of Newport, Lois N. and Thomas Rowe of Dixmont, one sister Dorothy Bearce of Dexter, five grandchildren; Summer Sunderland of Orono, Amy Thayer of Hampden, Seth Laplant of Bucksport, Katie Cloutier of Litchfield, and Lindsey Copelin of Fairbanks, Alaska, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Brent, a brother Harold, and two sisters Mary and Dellana.
Friends may call Sunday July 5, 2015 at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High Street, Newport. where a funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm Monday July 6, 2015 with Rev.
