- Margaret Ethel (Bauer) Dreisch, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the residence of her son in Sherman Mills. She was born December 31, 1928, in the Bronx, N.Y. to Henry and Margaret (Baumbach) Bauer. She fell in love and married her husband John on July 1, 1948; they eventually settled in Amawalk, N.Y. The couple, along with their son and daughter spent their summers in Sherman Mills from 1969 until moving to the town in 1979. The couple then moved to Glenburn, Maine, in 2000.
Fondly known as Marge, she is survived by her husband, John; son George and his wife, Darlene; daughter Joan (Dreisch) Albert; granddaughter Melissa Anne Albert; brother Robert Bauer and Marie of California; niece Ginny Parsons, and nephews Robert Bauer, Peter Bauer and Allen Bauer. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother George O. Bauer, all of the Bronx, N.Y.
Marge enjoyed farming, caring for her horses, cattle, and chickens. She also enjoyed deep sea fishing, country fairs, quilting, and knitting. She was talented in the kitchen. She loved her dogs and cats. She is survived by her beloved dog, Oscar.
The family would like to thank her home health caretakers for their care and friendship during Marge's time of need.
Service at 10 a.m., Oct.8, 2016, at Washburn Memorial Church, 3 Church St., Sherman Mills.
