Margaret's Story

Margaret D. (Eastman) Colt 85, of Largo, Florida, died peacefully Friday July 22, 2016 at Sabal Palms Health Care Center following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late James M. Colt, Jr. who died in 2001.

Born March 31, 1931 in Northampton, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Harold W. and Mary Jean (Chandler) Eastman, she was a former longtime resident of Franklin, before moving to Stockton Springs Maine in 1989, and spent the winter months in Largo, Florida.

She was raised and educated in Franklin, where she was a member of the Franklin High School Class of 1948.

Margaret worked for the Town of Franklin at the Treasurer's office in the town hall until retiring. She was also the former secretary for the Franklin Cemetery Association.

She treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her children; Caryl D. LaScola of Warrenton, VA, Cynthia M. Garlick of Dedham, Jean D. White of Stockton Springs, ME, Gail E. Barrell of Worcester and Holly J. Colt of Charlton, sisters, Elizabeth Williams of Clearwater, FL and Sally Meyer of Gatesville, TX. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Helen Ellis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Monday, August 1, 2016 at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St., Franklin, MA. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Bellingham.

Calling hours are Monday from 9-11AM prior to the service.
