Malcolm's Story

MACHIAS - Malcolm Roger Donovan Sr., 82, died Feb. 8, 2015, at a Machias hospital. He was born April 10, 1932, in Jonesport, the youngest of ten children of Harriet H. (Hartford) and Melvin J. Donovan Sr.

He had a great fondness for Mason Bay where he grew up as a child. He attended Jonesport High School, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for many years as the manager for the State Agency Liquor Store in Machias. He was an avid trout fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of Harwood Masonic Lodge in Machias.

He is survived by his children, Debbie Norman of Machias, Darlene Brenton of Hancock, Malcolm Jr. of Machias, and Donna Weaver of Machias; the mother of his four children, Dorothea Donovan, who he was married to for 35 years; Mary Hanscom was his long-time companion; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his 2 brothers and 7 sisters.
