Madeline's Story

LINCOLN - Madeline (Smith) Leland, wife of the late Carold A. Leland passed away Dec 28, 2014 at a Brewer healthcare facililty. She was born July 11, 1926 in Plymouth the daughter of Pitt and Mildred (King) Smith. Madeline graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1944 and married Carold in 1947. After living in California for two years, she moved back to Lincoln for the rest of her life, working in the local school system, Gulesian's Dental office and Curves. She was most active with the Methodist Church, enjoyed many different crafts along with traveling. Most especially she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grand kids. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother Ellsworth Smith and a sister Evangeline Lancaster. She is survived by a son Kevin Leland and his wife Carla, a daughter, Pam Leland, grandchildren, Jennie Woodard and Susan Leland, great-grandchildren Emma Loomis, Landon Arthurs and Phoebe Woodard. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lincoln United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Cheryl Stratton officiating. Spring interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Those who wish may sign an online register and leave written condolences at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
